Long-running functions with webhooks

Add the header x-fx-webhook to any 1001fx call and the API answers immediately with status 202 and a job ID. The function runs in the background for up to 30 minutes, and 1001fx sends the result to your webhook URL with a POST request – also when the function fails.

File results

Available via
REST API (https://api.1001fx.com) with your API key – from Make, n8n, scripts and AI agents

What you can do with it

  • Extract audio from videos, transcribe recordings or process large files that take minutes
  • Avoid the timeouts of automation platforms such as Make and n8n, which stop waiting for an answer after a while
  • Start many jobs at once and collect the results in a second scenario or workflow
  • Match each result to your data with the reference ID, for example a spreadsheet row

How it works

  1. 1

Call the function as usual and add the headers x-fx-webhook and x-fx-webhook-ref.

  2. 2

Input errors (400), a wrong key (401) or too few credits (402) come back at once, without a job.

  3. 3

Otherwise 1001fx answers 202 with a jobId and runs the function in the background.

  4. 4

When the function is done, 1001fx posts the result, the credits and the duration to your webhook URL.

Frequently asked questions

What happens without the x-fx-webhook header?
Nothing changes. The call is answered directly, exactly as before.
Do I get a webhook when the function fails?
Yes. The webhook body then has "status": "failed", the status code and the error message. The function credits are not charged, only the 1 webhook credit.
Can the same result arrive twice?
Yes, for example when the answer of your webhook got lost. Use the jobId to ignore duplicates.
How do I check a job without a webhook?
Call GET /jobs/<jobId> with the same API key. While the job runs the status is queued or running; afterwards you get the same body as the webhook. The call is free.
