What is 1001fx?

1001fx is a universal function API for automation and AI. It offers 127 ready-made functions – for PDFs, documents, images, OCR, data, dates, spreadsheets and AI – that any automation platform, script or AI agent can call over HTTPS with one API key. 1001fx fills the gaps of workflow tools such as Make and n8n and gives AI agents reliable tools for work that a language model cannot do on its own. It is operated by efec AG in Wetzlar and hosted in Germany.

For automation

Workflow platforms connect apps, but they leave gaps: merging PDFs, reading a scanned invoice, resizing an image, formatting a date for another system or looking up a value. 1001fx closes these gaps with functions that behave the same on every platform. Use them as modules in Make and n8n, or as an HTTP request from your own code – with the same API key, the same parameters and the same results.

Calls that take longer than your platform waits run in the background with a webhook. Small amounts of state – processed IDs, lookups, counters – live in data tables that every platform can read and write.

For AI agents and AI workflows

Language models are good at text, but they cannot convert a file, render a PDF or compute a calendar week reliably. 1001fx gives AI agents these abilities as tools with exact, repeatable results. Every function is a plain HTTPS endpoint with a JSON schema; the OpenAPI document at https://api.1001fx.com/api-json and GET /<group>/<function>/metadescribe all parameters, so the functions can be offered to a model for function calling.

1001fx also brings AI into ordinary workflows: OCR turns scans into Markdown for a model,data extraction reads invoices and receipts into JSON, and the AI group asks models and transcribes audio.

What 1001fx is not

Not a workflow builder
1001fx does not run your workflows. It adds functions to the platform you already use.
Not a language model
AI functions such as OCR, data extraction and Ask AI use selected providers. 1001fx makes them callable with one key and one format.
Not a file store
File results are delivered as download links that expire after 48 hours. Only data tables keep data until you delete them.

Frequently asked questions

What is 1001fx used for?
For the steps that automation platforms do not cover out of the box: converting and editing PDFs, documents and images, OCR, extracting data from invoices, formatting dates, transforming JSON, spreadsheets, charts, barcodes and calling AI models.
Is 1001fx free?
There is a free plan with 100 credits per month, no credit card required. Paid plans add more credits. Unused credits are not carried over to the next month.
Which platforms can use 1001fx?
Make and n8n have ready-made 1001fx modules. Any other tool can call the REST API with an HTTP request and the API key.
Can AI agents use 1001fx functions as tools?
Yes. Every function is a plain HTTPS endpoint with a JSON schema. The OpenAPI document at https://api.1001fx.com/api-json and the meta endpoint of each function describe parameters and answers, so they can be turned into tools for function calling.
Where is my data processed?
On servers in Germany. Functions that use an external provider, for example OpenAI or Mistral, name it on their page. Uploaded files are not kept in the call log.
